Quests and Updates

First of all, thank you to everyone who has joined

gameofmana and been patient with me as I've set up the game! I was not expecting so much interest, and so I was somewhat unprepared with the first Quest post. However, it was a good learning experience, and I have made some changes to the typical version of the quest post so that it is hopefully more streamlined with plenty of suggestions for people to do.

The most notable is that I have divided Quests into "Major Quests" and "Minor Quests". The main difference is that Major Quests will more effecting of the world, involve major NPCs, or allow for Artifact chances. They will also have their own catch-all log. Minor Quests are more like ideas of things for your characters to do, and they will never require mod NPCing on my account. (However, if you would like a NPC involved for whatever reason, feel free to let me know.)

As a reminder, Quest Posts also include where to use any Artifacts discovered, any NPC interaction you'd like, or asking questions about a particular Quest, etc.

Major Quests

Babites
Remember that large Rabite that you successfully chased off from Mark's shop? Well, apparently, there's a reason it was so large. Literal hoards of baby Rabites have flooded Domina. It's impossible to go five feet without almost stepping on one, whether on the streets or indoors. It's become so bad that a reward has been organized that every ten Rabites which are gotten rid of will get someone rewarded 10 lucre.

Rachel
Utterly ignoring the Rabite problem are two people: Mark and Jennifer from the local shop. For once, both of them seem to be in a panic and for good reason. It appears their daughter Rachel has gone missing and all signs point to the idea that she's disappeared into Mekiv Caverns. They're asking anyone for help finding her and bringing her back home.

Cavern Concert
A few flyers here and there have been put up around town, requesting escorts. The individual in question, Hope, wants to search for something down in Mekiv Caverns lowest levels, but she can't go alone. Anyone interested is to search her out at Domina's tavern.

Minor Quests

Performance Anxiety
➤ One of the traveling troupes in Domina has lost one of their main actors, who's run away because of stage fright. (He's actually the replacement for a sick actor.) They don't have anyone they can pick up so soon, so they're asking anyone if they'll help track their actor down.
➤ Reward: 50 Lucre and a free show

Urn Mistaken
➤ Up on the Domina town billboard, someone is offering a reward to help them catch a swindler. He sold their younger siblings a clearly busted vase with the lie that it's magic. Catch the swindler so that they can have some strong words with them.
➤ Reward: Homemade strawberry cookies and an actually nice vase from the swindler's stock, assuming you can find anything not supremely flawed

Get the Powder
➤ One of the stall owners in the marketplace of Domina sells refined paraylsis powder. However, to get that powder, they need it from the caps of Mushbooms. Usually they have a guy go to Mekiv Caverns for it, but he got his leg broken, so they're looking for other people who will go instead.
➤ Reward: 10 lucre for each cap, with a bonus of a very small pouch of paralysis powder if enough caps are brought

Sword of the Skeleton
➤ A weapons historian stopping in town has heard that skeletal warriors lurk about in Mekiv Caverns. He's always been curious about the weapons they wield, especially in different areas, so he's willing to pay someone to go down there and bring him back a sword from one of the creatures.
➤ Reward 100 lucre in exchange for the sword, or a mantle he bought in another town that can protect against magic to some extent

Showbiz Scuffle
➤ A musical troupe in town thinks a rival troupe is sabotaging their stuff: instruments, clothes, etc. They want someone to do a stakeout and catch the jerks, since they've just bought new instruments to replace the old sabotaged ones.
➤ Reward: Some old fighting gauntlets, decent protective boots (hopefully they fit), and an Aura enchanted pendant

If you want to interact with a named NPC outside of a quest, or want their presence in a particular thread, let me know here!

Let me know here if your character is changing their room, building or adjusting something on Home's grounds or the house itself, or anything else that is relevant to Home!

Respond here if you have an artifact you would like to use, or are interested in searching for an egg!

To use an Artifact, respond here with what artifact that you are using and in what location you are using it in (for example, Home or Domina). If you want to specify a direction (east, west, etc), feel free to, or otherwise I'll simply put it in whatever nearest space is available.

Eggs can be found in any location besides Home, usually in areas that are quiet and secluded. To find an egg, respond here with the location you are searching in. Results are randomized, so there is a possibility that you might not find an egg at all.

Ken will be using his Wheel artifact to the west of Domina! ~~after leaving it in his pocket for a hundred years like the smart dog he is~~

The second Ken pulls the Wheel out of his pocket, it begins to tug itself in his hand. First, nothing more than a few attempts at spinning, easily stopped, but, as the seconds pass, it begins to spin so rapidly and violently that not even Kong Channel has a chance of stopping it. For a mere wooden wheel, it seems impossibly durable. Then, seemingly propelled by its own speed, it shoots off in a large arch into the emptiness of Fa'diel.

As it hits the earth, instead of shattering into a thousand pieces, the Wheel's impact is like that of something much larger. Dirt, dust, and something much darker bellows out in a burst of wind that reaches all the way even to the outskirts of Domina. There's a chance Ken's senses will get overwhelmed by it all, both sight and smell, but the scent carried through the dirt tells enough if he can focus: dry dirt, stubborn shrubs, old blood, and, if he remembers it, the smell of mice.

Before the dust can settle, there's a burst of light, and both factors combined make things a little difficult to see as things finally calm down. However, soon enough, everything clears up. Off in the distance, an enormous road has been carved through the empty landscape with dead trees and hard packed dirt practically blossoming from its edges. In comparison to the tiny settlement of Domina or the downwards focusing Mekiv Caverns, the rough highway seems to take up miles of space.

Do your best to do Quests with other players, since quests are meant to be done with interaction in mind. Plot and communicate with one another. Major Quests are a bit more open to having a decent sized party! If your character isn't the most social sort, feel free to work with others to figure out how to get them involved.

Both of Rachel's parents are hurrying around Domina, asking for help from anyone who will stop long enough. Mark is quite obviously the more panicked one, but both him and Jennifer will be able to talk about a note Rachel left talking about going down into Mekiv Caverns. If anyone wants to thread with either of these NPCs, let me know.

However, if no one shows any interest, the thread will start out at the opening of Mekiv Caverns. Player Characters will be allowed to do freeform threads detailing how they are searching through the caverns along with any monster encounters they want to do. There will be no mod participation in this part of the thread, although characters are free to notice that there seem to be the occasional scorch mark along the cavern stone that lead deeper into the caverns.

After the thread has reached twenty comments or a week has passed, the next portion of the quest will be posted.

If Rachel is successfully found, then there's good news: she's found something while in Mekiv Caverns that might be useful...

SO GOOD NEWS EVERYONE: Shouto has the fire side of his quirk back, at it's worst it's basic heat manipulation- at it's best it's an inferno. He's still a little shaky at using this part of him (deep personal reasons he's working on) so he can help provide light in the caverns if needed!

He's also a student of one of the very best hero academies, and he's the son of the number 2 hero. So this is right up his alley. But he knows he can't do this alone, since he's not at full strength. So he will be trying to rally a group to go with him, explaining his traits and how he can be of use.

If anyone is interested in grouping up with my ~~human lantern~~ loser let me know! Let's talk about it.

kickingand) and I want Dean and Sam to be involved in. Will double check and edit this with confirmation later but it was something mentioned when we were talking, SO.

I'll be back here with actual plotting when confirmed and hit up other characters here to see if we should form up an RPG party. /FF7 victory tone can be heard in the distance...

This is less of a "quest", and more of an ongoing event. As noted in the post proper, the rabite that was chased out turned out to be a mother and she had a lot of babies. Is it even possible to have this many? Apparently.

The baby rabites are all around the size of a fist, and thus aren't extremely dangerous unless you're on all fours and getting right in their adorable faces. However, in their numbers, there's more than enough that they're quite the public nuisance.

The thread for them will be mostly for players to play out their attempts to capture the rabites, rabite shenanigans, or being pestered by the furry little balls of terror.

Unlike the other quests, both Major and Minor, this quest will have heavy NPC involvement and thus will require players who can keep up with a pace instead of the usual relaxed nature that is usually encouraged in GoM. All players involved will have three days to participate in the thread before I give a NPC response moving things along.

Ideally, everyone should tag in between NPC responses, but it doesn't have to be in a particular order, so don't worry about that.

Once successfully escorted in and out of Mekiv Caverns, Hope will have a reward for the characters...

It looks like Rachel is going to have plenty of help to be found (which Zenyatta would normally jump to help with), so he will help with this instead. I should be able to keep up with a quicker tagging pace for this.

Zenyatta can hover and shoot orbs at things now; he won't be as helpless as he was in the pumpkin fights. ~~He also glows a bit and help light up dark areas.~~

Do your best to do Quests with other players, since quests are meant to be done with interaction in mind. Plot and communicate with one another. Unlike major quests, minor quests are meant to be more relaxed. Think of them like meme prompts in a way- you're free to flesh them out as you like, within reason. (For example, do not make a quest giver a secret runaway princess from foreign lands.) If you're not sure about something, don't be ashamed to ask!

If you're looking for other people to plot with about a certain quest, respond to this thread with the name of the quest in the subject line.

Since Skyfire is going to be needing metal, building supplies and the like soon, the Sword of the Skeleton quest seems like his best option to get at least some of them. He's not going to be stupid and go charging off with no idea of what to expect, or without anyone to go with him to help watch his back, since he's still not at anywhere near full strength.

He'll let whoever goes with him keep the reward, provided that they don't mind if Skyfire loots every bit of metal junk, scrap armor and whatever other bits n bobs that he can find for himself. Anything really nice or still usable, they can come to an agreement to split somehow. ~~Skyfire doesn't mind playing pack-mule if it means that he gets enough out of it to make it worth his while XD~~ There's a good chance that whatever Skyfire keeps is going to be turned into it's base parts or a snack if it's metal, so if someone really wants something he'll let them have it without a fight.

So, anyone want to join a dragon on a cavern raid for loot? :p

This only took me forever to get to, half from internet problems, but... Tsukki here is interested in the mantle that's up as a reward, but alas he is nothing but a squishy human high schooler, so he needs someone to watch his back. Giant robot dragon would definitely make him feel at ease, and he doesn't mind letting Skyfire have basically everything else besides the sword they need to bring back.

Shit happens... Skyfire wouldn't want to take everything, he'd want to make sure that Tsukki would get his fair share. Likely they'd sell what is of decent quality and split the proceeds at least 50/50... Or at least that's what Skyfire would likely offer.

They haven't met yet and Skyfire is still not used to the world, so I'm open to suggestions as to how they'd meet each other and decide to take the quest?

Tsukki would probably hear about it while going into town, since he regularly does that while picking up the cooking slack of Home. Then he'd go home intending to put up a note on the billboard inside trying to find someone who's better at combat because he'd be interested, aaaand go from there?

How about having Skyfire run into him on the way to post a note? I don't think Skyfire has had time to figure out quests and such as of yet... It would be a good chance for him to learn about the billboard too, since he's never had to use anything like that either.

Mettaton would like to help out with the troupe - offering assinstance in finding the actor, helping them with their stage freight, and helping with the show. He is a star, after all. ~~And has been dying to bask in "fame" again.~~

Zenyatta would be a good fit for this quest as well.

It looks like we have have create a log for this since there isn't a spot on the quest log. Are you still interested doing the quest? And if yes, would you like me to start the log or would you like to start it?
