Whatever or whoever had brought them here had also given them items to help them survive, was letting them move around freely. Hell of a lot nicer than most of the things Sam's dealt with in his life, which had actively tried to kill him or those he cared about. This place was a paradise by comparison.

With Ryan's line of thinking, it could just have easily been anyone in this house who brought the rest of them there and was lying about it. At some point though you just had to trust yourself enough to know you'd be able to handle betrayal if it came along, and not stress yourself out expecting it at every turn.
