As Ken speaks, the corners of Chikusa’s mouth twitch down. It means more than the little it shows- he doesn’t particularly emote and even the slightest bit means tons. That’s not right. For a normal person, maybe they wouldn’t smell anything in particular, but Ken isn’t like that. His nose can pick up anything. For him to say there’s no scent… And to get turned around...
If it’s actually concerning him, then he can’t even imagine how Ken is feeling. Perhaps that’s the reason why his fingers slip up, running through messy blond hair. In the meantime, Chikusa tries to think. An illusion could do this sort of thing, but it’d be easier, wouldn’t it, to just keep them trapped in a building or something like that? Why have an illusion just end instead of pretending to go on forever?
