Of course that would induce nightmares for Dean. Sam wonders how long it's going to take him not to have those reactions to the things in this place. Granted, even some of the things still rate pretty damn high on Sam's weird meter too.
It's something he's wondering about too, how that creature or whatever had ended up with it. "Yeah. Maybe other people have seen those creatures here and could tell us more about them. I've been meaning to visit the church here in Domina. It might help to know some of the religion or legends around here. Could help us figure out how we wound up here, too," he says thoughtfully before turning his focus back on the broom.
He runs his fingers over the strange markings, sort of like runes, etched into the newer wood of the handle. He's pretty sure it's not going to come to life and start moving around on its own like a Fantasia broom... Though his child self would have probably been ecstatic to see that. It still feels like it could be magic though, in the same way those pumpkins had. Enchanted pumpkins, a broom... Seemed Halloween and possibly witch related, at least in the terms of the world Sam knew.
"I don't know about that, but it might not be too far off?" He gives a shrug and starts messing with the broom then, out of curiosity, turning his back to Dean so he's pointing the thing at a nearby broken pumpkin and not at his brother.
He tries a few gestures, concentrating but feeling a little stupid at the same time. Like he's pretending to conduct an orchestra with the damn thing or something. Which is sort of Fantasia after all, he thinks.
Suddenly a straight line of flames seems to burst from the tip of the handle, shooting at the pumpkin and setting the remains on fire. Sam almost drops the broom in surprise, but turns a wide-eyed look at Dean. Because what the fuck. He'd been expecting it to a certain extent but still the revelation that it really was magic was... off-putting? Disturbing? Certainly not comforting, at any rate.
