At least, that's what the usual mail pelican is frantically squawking about on the front steps of home with her feathers going everywhere as she flaps her wings.

And.... there are some very disconcerting dark clouds gathering around Domina that haven't yet started intruding on the sky around Home. Perhaps this merits some checking out.

To those that venture forth, they'll notice that Domina is eerily quiet as they step into it from the road. Both Domina's tavern and inn seem empty, which is a strange thing in itself. Anyone who's visited the town regularly will have noticed that those two places, for good reason, are often the most lively places in town.

Just where has everyone gone....?

"Still, I apologize for knocking into you."

He was half expecting her to run screaming from him, but was pleasantly surprised that she just kept on as if it wasn't a big deal. Perhaps this place wasn't too bad aside from the surprise arrival...

At her question he nodded and replied with a "Yes." Since it was easier than trying to explain what he was all the time when most didn't understand, or thought that because he was mechanical that he wasn't really alive.

"Oh. Are you from Equestria then? Or have you heard of it before?" asked Sunset, wondering if this guy was an Equestrian Dragon.

Though, to be fair, he seemed a lot nicer than any other Equestrian Dragon she had ever seen before. Spike not counted.

"Oh I'm Sunset Shimmer."

He shook his head in the negative. "Equestria? I'm afraid not. I don't think I've ever heard of such a location before."

"My name is Skyfire, it's nice to make your acquaintance."

Humans seemed to fear him back on Earth, so it was interesting that at least so far, he was treated as just another person here. He had to wonder if it was just because of his new, smaller size, or if there was another reason.

It helped that Sunset was from a magic world and constantly dealt with magic in the last year or so. At least she didn't judge him as a possible jerk.

"Skyfire, nice to meet you. Did you just get here like I did?"

"It's nice to meet you too."

He nods and chuckles sheepishly, remembering his own arrival to the world.

"Just the other morning actually. I'm still trying to figure out what's going on to be truthful."

Skyfire wasn't used to people being nice to him anymore, nor was he yet comfortable with his new size and nerfed abilities.

"Yeah, same here. I was at camp when I woke up here. I'm glad at least I didn't arrive in my pajamas," said Sunset with a little grin.

"I really like your scales, they're polished well."

He nodded, then paused as his mind fully registered the foreign word. "... Pajamas? What are those? Some kind of night wear?"

Even having made friends with humans now and again over the years, he was still unaware of a lot of things that humans either made or did. Still, Skyfire blinked at the compliment, seemingly a little surprised by it.

"Ah, thank you?" He'd never actually polished his scales before, nor had he thought to. However now he wondered if that was a normal thing for dragons to do.

"Yeah they're sleepwear. I wear them so that the sheets won't get dirty if I don't shower, keeps the bed cleaner and keeps me more comfortable, especially since I was sleeping in a tent." explained Sunset.

Sunset grinned a little. "Yeah, I've never really met too many dragons before, but I can tell when someone takes care of their looks."

"That makes sense, I don't know overly much about what humans wear, so thank you for the explanation."

The comment on his looks startles him a touch, and then he laughs lightly. "Well now I know that you're just being polite, but thank you for the complement. I don't polish my scales or do anything for my appearance."

"Well you might say I'm used to non-human talking people," said Sunset, grinning at her inside joke.

"But yes, humans wear clothing for hygiene and comfort. You haven't been around humans much I take it?"

He sighed softly. "Sadly that is very much the truth. Humans tend to see me and either run the other way, or come after me with weapons..."

Shaking his head a little he adds "If anything, at least this place seems to be an improvement in that respect. There others here that are willing to speak with me instead of trying to attack me."

"Yeah I kinda know the feeling..."

Changing the subject, Sunset added, "There's also a good amount of people here who are from different worlds."

Skyfire took note of her comment, but didn't say anything about it as it wasn't his place to and eagerly took the chance to change the topic.

"So I'm starting to realize... Truly being dumped here doesn't seem as horrible as it could be." With a sigh he added "I just wish there had been a choice involved in coming here."

"Same here. I was on my last day of camp, and I really wanted to spend it with my friends," said Sunset. "I'm just glad things are provided for us."

"You have people to go back to, that makes this situation worse... I hope that we can find you a way back in short order then." Skyfire was of the mind that if there was a way here, there was a way back.

He sighed "It's nice to have some of the things here but really, all I would have wanted was a chance to bring a few things." He was in no hurry to return to an empty cavern after all.

"I'd be less worried considering what I've been through," said Sunset honestly. "I'm pretty sure my world doesn't line up time-wise with this one."

"There's plenty of room to collect I'd imagine."

He looks intrigued by her comment, tilting his head a little. "How could you possibly tell?"

Skyfire does chuckle a bit at the mention of space to collect things. "That is true, but I do wish my tools had come with me." He held up one of his forelegs and wiggled the somewhat hand-like paws there. "These paws are not really made with fine control in mind. It took me years to create the set I have, er had, with items that I doubt I'll be able to find here."

"Experience mostly," said Sunset in that all too vague manner of hers.

"Tools? Maybe I can help make some. I'm pretty good at machines and science." offered Sunset.

He nods and moves on, clearly noting when she doesn't seem to wish to talk about it.

"I appreciate the offer. Perhaps when I figure out what materials I have to work from here I may take you up on that."

Skyfire sighs "Trying to find the right metals and materials was a struggle the first time. I have even less idea of what there will be to work with here."

Reformed or not, Sunset still guarded a couple of facts about her life close at heart until she could trust someone, even if she was a little relaxed around Skyfire.

"I guess that's what exploration is for," said Sunset, looking out the window at the distance. "There seems to be a town out there too. We might be able to find supplies there."

He considers that, then huffs. "I suppose that is true, I'll just have to hope I don't end up really needing them for something in the meantime." Skyfire was a bit worried that if he got damaged, he wouldn't be able to fix it.

At the mention of a town however, he flinches a bit. "It... might not be the best of ideas for me to go near a town." Sure, he was smaller now but he'd never had much luck trying to approach places with lots of humans.

"Oh, right, yeah I get you."

That makes sense. She figures it's cause y'know, dragon. Not everyone is going to be accepting of that.

Skyfire puts his head on his paws and sighs.

"Still, this is better than being alone..."

[shimmer_on]

"Yeah, I can agree with that. Being alone sucks a lot."

But it was better they were in one place than spread out.

"Now if only I knew what to do with myself..."

He'd poked around Home and outside of it a bit, but other than that he'd not done much. Skyfire was still getting used to his smaller size and the loss of a number of abilities.
