Where: The outskirts of Domina, past the residential area

Domina, despite the magical way it appeared to the residents of the tree, is a very simple town. While there's bustling activity of all sorts near the market, a quieter atmosphere reigns in places like the church on top of the hill or near the residential area and its outskirts. This is something that is obvious to anyone who's explored a little around town at all and has a bit of observational skills.

Today, however...

A little past the array of houses, near what should be a quiet clearing, is a cacophony of chirping. Anyone who goes to investigate will find nine eggs there in the middle of the clearing. At least... They look sort of like eggs. They all share a general egg shape as the best: oval and white. However... One seems to have fins on the side of it. Another seems to have cracks in its shell that almost seem like jaws. Et cetera, et cetera. All of them are mobile, but they don't go very far. In fact, they stick pretty close together and only seem to wander a little ways off from the main group before stumbling back and inevitably colliding with one of their own.

Crouched down behind a decently sized bush is a young woman with quivering antennae and delicate bug-like wings, her blue hair held back out of her face. For anyone who's been particularly social or observant or both, they might recognize her: this is Rachel, the daughter of the general store couple.

[ Zenyatta is going to assume that a Chocobo is a type of bird. Perhaps a species the color of chocolate. ]

I wonder where their parents are. Did they get scared off by other animals? By a Chocobo?

[ He looks around for signs of a struggle. He knows the behavior of some animals towards danger and their young. Could the parents be watching, wary of them, or could the eggs be abandoned? ]

If they were laid here naturally, maybe... But anything could have happened.

[As far as Zenyatta will be able to see, there doesn't appear to be signs of a struggle besides what the eggs themselves have caused just by bumping into each other. If he looks closely, however, there's some vegetation that's been disturbed at another point in the clearing as though something came through it into the little area with twigs and leaves scattered about. Considering the size, it was probably the eggs themselves.]

[ He studies the surrounding area for a better idea of what might have occurred before their arrival, and he cannot come up with much of an answer beyond the eggs' strange movement displacing the scenery around them. ]

What will be best to move them safely...?

[ He will help. ]

Well, they'll probably need a place with a lot of room... You have no idea what will hatch out of them. I can't take them with me because of that.

Perhaps they can be moved near the tree I live in. There is space around it, and the sun is warm. That should help them hatch, correct?

[ Zenyatta, this is not like bringing home another potted plant. Except it is in a way. ]

Well, heat definitely should be help... If you can take them in, it'd be a great help!

I shall. You have convinced me it would be safer to keep watch on them.

[ Zenyatta tries to edge closer to reach for an egg. Perhaps sensing Zenyatta's intention, the nearest egg scatters on its root like legs. ]

... Wait. Please do not run away. I want to help you.

[ He feels bad now. He scared the egg. ]

[Not far off behind him, Rachel giggles into one hand.]

They're only eggs. They won't understand you just yet. It'll be better if you have bait with you. Their stomachs shouldn't be big yet, so it only takes a little before they're full and get sleepy.

What do eggs eat? Seed? Worms?

[ He thinks of what birds eat, mostly. He thought eggs did not eat until hatching. ]

[Eggs also don't generally run around, but Fa'Driel is strange like that. Smiling, Rachel sets out what looks like a small apple.]

Well, some eat seeds, but others like fruit or vegetables, or even meat. It depends!

Fruit is probably a good idea for an egg like that... It looks like something from a plant creature.

Fruit... I will look for something and attempt to draw it near. I hope it does not already have preferences.

[ A picky eater will make things harder. ]

Well, if you want, I have some in my bag. It's not a lot, but it should be enough. You're all working to catch them and give them a home, so it's the least I could do.

[ He will gratefully take the bit of fruit when she hands it to him, lowering his head slightly like a bow. ]

[Being bowed at has Rachel flap her hands up and her wings flutter from surprise.]

No, it's fine! You're helping me, so it's only fair.

I will attempt to locate the egg now. Peace be upon you.

[ He does not want to give the egg that much of a head start on him. ]
