♪ Our house ♪ in middle of this tree ♪ our house

Who: Everyone
What: The first morning of an adventure begins.
Where: Home
When: Day 1
Other: Be courteous and warn for any of the usuals in your thread subject title if it gets to that point.

You wake up to a serene and idyllic morning.

Outside, a pleasant glow from the sun fills the room including the small crannies in which the beds are tucked. All windows have been latched close, but it's easy to see a gentle breeze ruffling the leaves of branches which loom overhead. Faintly, bird song can be heard from outside. In this place, it'd be a simple matter to close your eyes again and drift back to sleep.

There's simply one problem: this is not where you last went to sleep.

Waking up properly will display not only how the picturesque and cozy little room stands out in stark contrast to where you should be, but that you are sharing this space with someone else. Depending on things, they might be very mundane or very... unusual. Either way, they seem just as bewildered as you are. The good news is that at least all the things you immediately had on you at the time are right nearby the foot of your bed along with what seems like a small gift- a small pouch of some sort of coin. (500 Lucre, although that might not be immediately realized anytime soon.)

Exploring the rest of the house shows it to be otherwise quite empty, except for some writing utensils and paper in what appears to be the study along with basic kitchen tools in, well, the kitchen. There's no food, however, and no decoration. Venturing outside onto the grounds reveals an expansive but not particularly well tended estate including another building that is fairly run down. Attempting to venture down the path from the front door out into the world reveals... well. Nothing. It's a fruitless endeavor.

However, not for long.

Hajime Iwaizumi will be the one to find what appear to be a few discarded children's toy blocks. The Colorblocks immediately seem off in some way, strange even as they should seem inconspicuous. Something about them will compel him to pick them up. The nature of this apparent toy will not be obvious until he ventures near the edge of Home himself. A sound, almost like distant bellchimes, will start to emit from the Colorblocks.

When exposed to the air, suddenly they emit a glow and shoot off into the sky with all the brilliance of a falling star. Its trail is both noticeable and easy to follow, curving an arc through the sky until it falls some distance away... and its impact bursts an aurora of colors through the distant and dimmer sky, encircling the site. As the whirlwind of color fades, what appears to be a town can be just made out...

That is the town of Domina.

Some OOC notes:
➸ Prior to the activation of the Colorblocks, the only books which will be filled out in the Study will be "Artifacts" and "Visitors".
➸ After Domina has been unlocked and some characters have explored the town, "People" and "Locations" will be filled out in the Study as well.
➸ To see who your character is initially rooming with, check the Home page. These rooming assignments are not permanent or mandatory by any means, and characters can change them whenever. Officially letting me know will be present and explained in the next mod post coming in a week's time, but for now we can play it relaxed and loose. Just don't burn down the tree in the meantime.

It's Rico... Rixx, if you want to be formal. Scholar Rixx of the Durmand Priory.

[ He's not going to comment on the little fellow bit. Because there's more important things to talk about! Like his theory. ]

But moving on. Given what I've heard of from everyone else in this treehouse, yourself included... it seems we all come from different worlds. My theory is that this house itself exists in a separate dimension entirely! I was right about there being parallel dimensions!

[ Lookit that little chest puffing out in pride. Can you blame the guy? Half his life's work has been proven after all. ]

If only the council could see me now...

A scholar! [Her eyes go wide, but as he continues, it becomes clear that he's not precisely her type of scholar--and still, yet.]

That does seem a viable theory. It would explain why I cannot access arcanima, cut off from Hydaelyn and the aether as such.

[And that theory is a damn sight more calming than her husband's notion of 'maybe it was a Primal'.]

I should hope you get back to instruct your Council! This sort of thing is too important to dismiss!

It certainly is! This only proves the presence of parallel dimensions that have little to no relevance to the one world we know as reality from back home. Though I can't possibly imagine what could have enough power to breach several dimensions, much less world lines and bring creatures from all of them in one place without the Eternal Alchemy collapsing in on itself...

[ And he's starting to pace by now before pausing and looking back up at her. ]

I apologize. I was starting to get carried away again. I take it ar... canima... is something native to your world as well?

It is, yes. It's one of four styles of aetheric manipulation that act as magic, where I'm from. Arcanima, conjury, thaumaturgy, and astrology. Although the latter was just revealed when Ishgard opened its gates once more.

[There were a lot of things that happened when Ishgard did that, though...]

I've got a basis in all of them, though I'm most familiar with arcanima, as I've said. I've studied both disciplines, summoning and scholary. Not that I can summon anything right now, be it Egi or my fae. I've tried.

[She figures, since he's talked shop a little, she can put forth a little as well, but Sara does stop, with a rueful smile.] I don't suppose you've better luck, Scholar?

[ His head turns this way and that, ears perked at her explanation. Fascinating. This was all too fascinating to him. All these branches of magic, some of them not at all familiar to him despite having grown up surrounded by schools that specialized in every field of magic available.

Of course, he doesn't want to look like the lesser being here. Her question though prompts a shake of his head. ]

Hardly. My particular field lies in necromancy and no matter which facet of death magic I've attempted, nothing seems to be working. Summoning fiends does nothing and not even the most basic spells respond no matter what I do with my staff. It's as good as kindling for all I can do with it!

The same as with my grimoires, then. [She doesn't look happy, but then, would anyone, faced with this dilemma?]

I can use a bow, and I've one with me, but...Ah well. Perhaps we'll get to the bottom of this sooner rather than later. Though Hydaelyn knows, I'd rather it be sooner!
