♪ Our house ♪ in middle of this tree ♪ our house

Who: Everyone
What: The first morning of an adventure begins.
Where: Home
When: Day 1
Other: Be courteous and warn for any of the usuals in your thread subject title if it gets to that point.

You wake up to a serene and idyllic morning.

Outside, a pleasant glow from the sun fills the room including the small crannies in which the beds are tucked. All windows have been latched close, but it's easy to see a gentle breeze ruffling the leaves of branches which loom overhead. Faintly, bird song can be heard from outside. In this place, it'd be a simple matter to close your eyes again and drift back to sleep.

There's simply one problem: this is not where you last went to sleep.

Waking up properly will display not only how the picturesque and cozy little room stands out in stark contrast to where you should be, but that you are sharing this space with someone else. Depending on things, they might be very mundane or very... unusual. Either way, they seem just as bewildered as you are. The good news is that at least all the things you immediately had on you at the time are right nearby the foot of your bed along with what seems like a small gift- a small pouch of some sort of coin. (500 Lucre, although that might not be immediately realized anytime soon.)

Exploring the rest of the house shows it to be otherwise quite empty, except for some writing utensils and paper in what appears to be the study along with basic kitchen tools in, well, the kitchen. There's no food, however, and no decoration. Venturing outside onto the grounds reveals an expansive but not particularly well tended estate including another building that is fairly run down. Attempting to venture down the path from the front door out into the world reveals... well. Nothing. It's a fruitless endeavor.

However, not for long.

Hajime Iwaizumi will be the one to find what appear to be a few discarded children's toy blocks. The Colorblocks immediately seem off in some way, strange even as they should seem inconspicuous. Something about them will compel him to pick them up. The nature of this apparent toy will not be obvious until he ventures near the edge of Home himself. A sound, almost like distant bellchimes, will start to emit from the Colorblocks.

When exposed to the air, suddenly they emit a glow and shoot off into the sky with all the brilliance of a falling star. Its trail is both noticeable and easy to follow, curving an arc through the sky until it falls some distance away... and its impact bursts an aurora of colors through the distant and dimmer sky, encircling the site. As the whirlwind of color fades, what appears to be a town can be just made out...

That is the town of Domina.

Some OOC notes:
➸ Prior to the activation of the Colorblocks, the only books which will be filled out in the Study will be "Artifacts" and "Visitors".
➸ After Domina has been unlocked and some characters have explored the town, "People" and "Locations" will be filled out in the Study as well.
➸ To see who your character is initially rooming with, check the Home page. These rooming assignments are not permanent or mandatory by any means, and characters can change them whenever. Officially letting me know will be present and explained in the next mod post coming in a week's time, but for now we can play it relaxed and loose. Just don't burn down the tree in the meantime.

[Sora's doing pretty much the same, exploring the place, though not going into any of the bedrooms. He runs into Sara somewhere near the study, after he's flipped through the empty books with some mild confusion.

He's already run into a few people, though not many. With so many floors in this place, he's willing to bet there are more he hasn't introduced himself to yet. At sight of someone new, he gives a friendly smile.
]

Hi! I'm Sora. Did you just find yourself here too?
sweetnessandfight: (laughing)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2016-08-04 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You could say that, yes! [The small woman turns a friendly smile on the young man in return, even as her eyebrows arch, giving her a quizzical look.]

At least, I'm fairly sure this isn't Eorzea. I'd expect to be able to summon, if it were, and I can't. [That fact is far more worrying to her husband, absent at the moment, than to Sara herself, as it were. And she chuckles, then.]

I'm Sarangerel Dalamiq, but you can call me Sara. It's nice to meet you, Sora. Have you found anything of interest? I'm afraid I can't say that I have. Well! Save for my roommate. He appears to be a talking cat. He's friendly, but he's very loquacious.

[Well, he was friendly to her, at least...]
consocius: ([neutral]; listen)

[personal profile] consocius 2016-08-04 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice to meet you, too.

[Sora crosses his arms loosely over his chest as he thinks, considering all that he's poked and prodded and looked at in this place so far.]

Hmm... There are books in that room. [He points with his thumb over his shoulder at the door to the study.] But a lot of 'em are completely blank. There's a cactus, too. He or, uh, it? ...The cactus has a face, I think maybe it's a creature but it doesn't seem to talk.

I haven't seen a talking cat yet. I've met my roommate though, she can kind of fly. [He says "kind of" only because he watched her crash. That may have just been because she was freaking out a bit at the time, though. Still, all of this is said in a rather matter-of-fact tone.]
sweetnessandfight: (surprised)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2016-08-05 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Fly? I haven't met anyone yet who can do that. Then again, I'm certain I haven't met everyone here, so...

[The Au Ra shrugs, an easy gesture.] I'm sure you'll run into the Judge sooner or later. He looks...like a cat, predictably. Thin white fur, giant, gorgeous golden eyes. As cats go, I'd say he's handsome.

[Sara you're fond of cats, so you're biased!]

A cactus with a face? Well, so long as it's not a nascent sabotender, we'll probably be all right. I know I don't want a thousand needles in my tender bits!

I looked around outside. From what I can tell, there's another building out there that looks like a barn, with a sort of pen by it, and what looks like a stand of fruit trees. [Oh, she hoped. Sara has something of a sweet tooth...] And there's another building near the well, but it looks like a tree root grew through it.
consocius: ([what]; doesn't get it)

I hope I'll meet everyone here eventually. It's weird that we all came from different places. Not a little different either, but a lot different.

[Weird, but not shocking. He's been a lion cub and a mer-dolphin in different worlds, at least since he got here he hasn't changed into a whole different form or anything. The place seems pretty normal, even if the people are all different.]

A... nasty what? [She could probably say "nascent sabotender" three more times and even spell it for him and he still wouldn't be able to get it down with complete accuracy. What a strange phrase. He can guess she means some kind of monster though, if it's shooting needles.]

Okay. Is that everything that's around? Have you tried going further out?
sweetnessandfight: (headtilt)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2016-08-05 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
True that. I mean, I've seen folk similar to those from my homeland--and you'd fit right in, we have Hyur where I'm from! [She chuckles a little at that, then widens her eyes.]

Baby sabotender. They're like...ambulatory cacti, in Eorzea. And their needle attacks...[She makes a face.]

Mind you, their needles do make very fine sewing needles, but the ordeal you have to go through to get one! It's almost not worth it!

[And then she shakes her head.] No, that's as far as I've gotten, though I hear that there's a village further out. I haven't traveled there yet.
consocius: Any icons that are by me are safe to take, except for this one please! ([humble]; I look around and see)

[personal profile] consocius 2016-08-05 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[First Fidget calls him a "Moonblood" and now this lady's calling him a "Hyur." Huh. Well, for all he knows, he is those things in their worlds.

He laughs.
] Well, I did poke it a little with a pencil-- [This is admitted a bit sheepishly.] --and it didn't attack me or anything. So I think this cactus is safe.

[He nods at the rest of what she says. A village. That's definitely something he should check out at some point.] Maybe there's people there who know why we were brought here? I guess it can't be a real bad reason, they did give us coins and left me my stuff.
sweetnessandfight: (amused)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2016-08-06 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's a relief, then. We have regular cacti, too, but sabotenders can be prickly. [Sara, you have been corrupted by Dread and his penchant for terrible puns. Still, she's smiling.]

I suppose we can always go out and ask. I haven't found anything here that would suggest any reason why we're here. The only disturbing thing I've found is that I've no access to magic, but I've got my bow and a quiver of arrows, so...

And I suppose the seven-foot or so husband stalking around here someplace doesn't hurt, either. [She chuckles again at that.]
consocius: ([down]; serious)

[personal profile] consocius 2016-08-07 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[The pun gets her a grin from Sora. Clearly he is appreciative of terrible puns.]

Magic, huh? [Sora hadn't thought yet to try his. It hadn't even occurred to him that there might be a reason he'd found his keyblade just lying on the bed rather than having to summon it. He'd left it there in his room, not worrying that someone would take it, as in every world he's been in so far, nobody else can. The possibility that this world might be different had never entered his mind. It does now.

Frowning, he holds his hand out and looks down at it. He stares. For a long time, he stares at his hand, look of frustration growing on his face. Finally he sighs and clenches his hand into a fist.
] I guess I've lost mine, too. I gotta--

[He moves past Sara, pointing to the stairs.] I gotta go get something, okay?
sweetnessandfight: (uncertain)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2016-08-07 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, by all means, don't let me stop you!

[The Au Ra even stepped aside, to make his passage easier. She could understand--he'd likely forgotten something. This was why she'd kept her satchel on her, tucked under an arm--she'd noted that the room doors didn't seem to have locks. Or if they did, they were ones she couldn't fathom. Curious, that.

Still, she'd wait patiently until Sora returned with--whatever he'd left behind.]
consocius: Any icons that are by me are safe to take, except for this one please! ([action]; showing)

[personal profile] consocius 2016-08-11 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Sora returns a moment later, keyblade in hand. He looks a little uncertain what to do with the object, and he is, but not because he doesn't know how to use it. He's just not sure where to store it when he's not using it.]

Everywhere I've been before, I can just call this to me or make it disappear when I want. But not here.
sweetnessandfight: (Default)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2016-08-11 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You might want a belt for that. If I thought I had one that would fit you, I'd offer, but...

[She does seem to have a number of accoutrements on her, but considering she's pretty small, and he seems to be a somewhat healthy teenager, she's not sure she could help him out right now.]

Still, I hear tell there's a village near here, perhaps they would have something that could suffice?
consocius: ([neutral]; casual)

[personal profile] consocius 2016-08-12 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Sora spins the keyblade in his hand a moment, then looks at his new friend and nods.]

Yeah. I think I'll do that. Find something to strap it to my back, I guess...

Oh! [Suddenly he remembers what she'd said before he left.] Hey, you said your husband was here, right? Maybe that means my friends could be here, too!
sweetnessandfight: (dramatic pose)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2016-08-16 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I did! You can't miss him, he's a very tall fellow. Big, broad, about twice again my size, shock of white hair and a white beard.

[You will have to forgive the sappy smile that crosses the Au Ri's face as she describes her husband. They both get that way around the other...]

His name is Dread Thunderstorm. I'd be happy to keep a look out for your friends, if you give me a description?
consocius: ([trio]; stay with me)

[personal profile] consocius 2016-08-22 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nah, the sappy smile makes Sora's head slightly tilt, amused and touched. Couples in love are pretty great. It was probably one of his favorite things about adventuring so far, getting to see people come together like that.

The happy smile shifts into determination, and he nods.
]

Yeah. Well, one's a guy who's a little taller than me, white hair and greenish eyes. He doesn't smile a whole lot, sometimes though, and sometimes he smirks. His name is Riku. And there's a girl with red hair who's shorter than me, her name's Kairi, her eyes are a lot like mine. She smiles a lot more, she's nice and a little bossy. They're both kinda bossy.

[He doesn't say bossy like it's a bad thing though, a big grin lighting up his face as he describes his two best friends. Really, the bossy may only be because Sora himself has a tendency to be lazy. They just pick up the slack and push Sora in the right directions.]
sweetnessandfight: (laughing)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2016-08-25 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I think my husband might entrench me in the "bossy" camp, too, sometimes. After all, I know he'd never show up at the Moonfire Faire each year if I wasn't begging him to go with me.

[But the memories are fond ones, and she's grinning.]

I shall have to keep a look out for your friends, then! I'm sure we'll be seeing more of each other, considering we both live in this tree. I'll be in and out a lot, I expect--between hunting for the pot and seeing about getting things for medicines. Work is never done, eh?

[And yet she doesn't say that like she's put upon. No, Sara enjoys keeping busy, really. Too much time spent being on the go, between her childhood on the Azim Steppes and all her travels beyond that...]
