♪ Our house ♪ in middle of this tree ♪ our house

Who: Everyone
What: The first morning of an adventure begins.
Where: Home
When: Day 1
Other: Be courteous and warn for any of the usuals in your thread subject title if it gets to that point.

You wake up to a serene and idyllic morning.

Outside, a pleasant glow from the sun fills the room including the small crannies in which the beds are tucked. All windows have been latched close, but it's easy to see a gentle breeze ruffling the leaves of branches which loom overhead. Faintly, bird song can be heard from outside. In this place, it'd be a simple matter to close your eyes again and drift back to sleep.

There's simply one problem: this is not where you last went to sleep.

Waking up properly will display not only how the picturesque and cozy little room stands out in stark contrast to where you should be, but that you are sharing this space with someone else. Depending on things, they might be very mundane or very... unusual. Either way, they seem just as bewildered as you are. The good news is that at least all the things you immediately had on you at the time are right nearby the foot of your bed along with what seems like a small gift- a small pouch of some sort of coin. (500 Lucre, although that might not be immediately realized anytime soon.)

Exploring the rest of the house shows it to be otherwise quite empty, except for some writing utensils and paper in what appears to be the study along with basic kitchen tools in, well, the kitchen. There's no food, however, and no decoration. Venturing outside onto the grounds reveals an expansive but not particularly well tended estate including another building that is fairly run down. Attempting to venture down the path from the front door out into the world reveals... well. Nothing. It's a fruitless endeavor.

However, not for long.

Hajime Iwaizumi will be the one to find what appear to be a few discarded children's toy blocks. The Colorblocks immediately seem off in some way, strange even as they should seem inconspicuous. Something about them will compel him to pick them up. The nature of this apparent toy will not be obvious until he ventures near the edge of Home himself. A sound, almost like distant bellchimes, will start to emit from the Colorblocks.

When exposed to the air, suddenly they emit a glow and shoot off into the sky with all the brilliance of a falling star. Its trail is both noticeable and easy to follow, curving an arc through the sky until it falls some distance away... and its impact bursts an aurora of colors through the distant and dimmer sky, encircling the site. As the whirlwind of color fades, what appears to be a town can be just made out...

That is the town of Domina.

Some OOC notes:
➸ Prior to the activation of the Colorblocks, the only books which will be filled out in the Study will be "Artifacts" and "Visitors".
➸ After Domina has been unlocked and some characters have explored the town, "People" and "Locations" will be filled out in the Study as well.
➸ To see who your character is initially rooming with, check the Home page. These rooming assignments are not permanent or mandatory by any means, and characters can change them whenever. Officially letting me know will be present and explained in the next mod post coming in a week's time, but for now we can play it relaxed and loose. Just don't burn down the tree in the meantime.

I can assure you that in the presence of cats, humans often display far lesser intelligence than even a mute cat.

[He smiles up at Ryan.]

Besides obvious facts which any individual with functioning eyes could deduce? I am afraid not. Still, the lack of decor is fascinating to note. Surely even those disinclined to interior furnishing show something of themselves in their home, yes?
amorality: (093)

[personal profile] amorality 2016-08-13 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Though he's about to protest just on principle the stupid cat memes Griffith sends to him invade his thoughts almost immediately. No, he certainly can't deny that.

Ryan sighs.]

Well, I can help you with that at least. I don't think this is someone's home in the way you're thinking. I think it has only generic furnishings on purpose. Just look at the variety of people and creatures wandering around without a clue — it's like this is some sort of experiment. I wouldn't be surprised if we're being observed from somewhere.

[Something occurs to him suddenly, causing Ryan to pause in his little rant.]

...I may have worked my own personal biases into that conclusion a bit.
chattychat: (asklejuge) (Disbelief becomes my close)

[personal profile] chattychat 2016-08-13 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh? And what biases might those be, if you will entertain the inquiry?
amorality: But I assure you he's harmless enough. (006)

[personal profile] amorality 2016-08-13 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a scientist. I don't really do behavioral science myself, but I could see how a scenario like this would hold some interest...

[Speaking of.]

Are sentient cats a normal thing wherever you're from?
chattychat: (asklejuge) (But still there is much that is fair)

[personal profile] chattychat 2016-08-15 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nodding along to the bit about behavorial sciences, his ears perk up when his talkative ability is mentioned.]

Why, my brother and I were not unusual creatures, I believe. Surely there were many more anomalies stranger.
amorality: Maybe if I wait 1000 years (058)

[But how can he have such a massive vocabulary with such a tiny brain?! It must have hundreds of folds and a more complex structure than the cat brains he's worked with before.

Ah, now he wants to look at it...]

I see. I wonder how many worlds are being represented here, exactly? I don't think I've met one other person from Earth yet.
chattychat: (asklejuge) (But still there is much that is fair)

[personal profile] chattychat 2016-08-15 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Would there be a guarantee that it is even the Earth of which you are familiar from which they are from? Considering such unusual phenomenon, I imagine we cannot discount any theory.
amorality: I'm so into you (012)

[personal profile] amorality 2016-08-15 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Did he just meet a cat that's casually suggesting the possibility of alternate timelines? Now he really wants in his little kitty skull.]

No, I suppose there wouldn't be.

[It's only then that he realizes he's neglected to ask the cat's name.]

...I'm Ryan, by the way.

[His ears flick up at the introduction.]

Despite our predicament, it is a pleasure to meet you, Ryan. You may call me the Judge.
amorality: (093)

[personal profile] amorality 2016-08-15 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
["The Judge" is just such a perfect name for a cat, oh no, he can't handle it. Ryan covers his mouth and starts giggling, then shakes his head rapidly.]

Ahh, I'm sorry... I just always felt like cats were silently judging people so that's - that's really quite the name you've chosen.
chattychat: (asklejuge) (This body is brave even when I am)

[personal profile] chattychat 2016-08-17 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Then you have excellent skills of deduction, for we often are. Still, it would be rude to say as much in most situations and, in this predicament in particular, we are all in the same boat of ignorance.

[personal profile] amorality 2016-08-17 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, at least he's honest. Still smiling, Ryan turns and continues his trek to the top of the tree house. If he gets up as high as he can, then he can get a better idea of where they are. He won't speak up again until he's positive he can't find another set of stairs, but he will politely open every door he passes after a cursory knock and peek inside because who knows what he might find?

Truly, he's ideal for a cat who's looking to poke into every nook and cranny but lacks opposable thumbs.]

[personal profile] chattychat 2016-08-19 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Truly the finest of gentleman to a thumb-forsaken feline. The Judge stays quiet as well as they poke about and indulge their curiosity. At least, until they reach the top of the stairs and they abruptly encounter a wall where there would normally be a landing. Giving into instinct, he paws at the smooth service.]

Intriguing. I would imagine something in the midst of construction would seem much more rough and unfinished.
amorality: Maybe you could cut me a little slack (040)

All the rooms in this... tree are odd. If I didn't know better I would say they're natural somehow.

[Ryan runs his hands over the wall as well. Eventually he gives up and walks into the closest room he had just opened so he can look out a window at the world around them.]

It's primitive as far as the eye can see.
chattychat: (asklejuge) (All the beauty in the world was made)

[personal profile] chattychat 2016-08-21 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Following after Ryan, the Judge attempts to hop up onto the nearest drawer or even the window sill itself to peer out as well.]

Perhaps the simplistic nature of this place is only a veil, hiding things we have yet to discover. There are many mysteries already.
amorality: (093)

[personal profile] amorality 2016-08-23 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't doubt that there's someone here more advanced than these surroundings appear. Particularly whoever or whatever brought us here.

[But this society as a whole? Definitely looks primitive. It looks idyllic too, which brings Ryan to a second thought...]

Maybe we're all just dead?

Ah ha, now that is a curious possibility to entertain. Is this perhaps a unified afterlife, a limbo for lost souls from all universes and portions of reality? Or are we merely hallucinating with astounding vividness in our death throes?
