You wake up to a serene and idyllic morning.

Outside, a pleasant glow from the sun fills the room including the small crannies in which the beds are tucked. All windows have been latched close, but it's easy to see a gentle breeze ruffling the leaves of branches which loom overhead. Faintly, bird song can be heard from outside. In this place, it'd be a simple matter to close your eyes again and drift back to sleep.

There's simply one problem: this is not where you last went to sleep.

Waking up properly will display not only how the picturesque and cozy little room stands out in stark contrast to where you should be, but that you are sharing this space with someone else. Depending on things, they might be very mundane or very... unusual. Either way, they seem just as bewildered as you are. The good news is that at least all the things you immediately had on you at the time are right nearby the foot of your bed along with what seems like a small gift- a small pouch of some sort of coin. (500 Lucre, although that might not be immediately realized anytime soon.)

Exploring the rest of the house shows it to be otherwise quite empty, except for some writing utensils and paper in what appears to be the study along with basic kitchen tools in, well, the kitchen. There's no food, however, and no decoration. Venturing outside onto the grounds reveals an expansive but not particularly well tended estate including another building that is fairly run down. Attempting to venture down the path from the front door out into the world reveals... well. Nothing. It's a fruitless endeavor.

However, not for long.

Hajime Iwaizumi will be the one to find what appear to be a few discarded children's toy blocks. The Colorblocks immediately seem off in some way, strange even as they should seem inconspicuous. Something about them will compel him to pick them up. The nature of this apparent toy will not be obvious until he ventures near the edge of Home himself. A sound, almost like distant bellchimes, will start to emit from the Colorblocks.

When exposed to the air, suddenly they emit a glow and shoot off into the sky with all the brilliance of a falling star. Its trail is both noticeable and easy to follow, curving an arc through the sky until it falls some distance away... and its impact bursts an aurora of colors through the distant and dimmer sky, encircling the site. As the whirlwind of color fades, what appears to be a town can be just made out...

That is the town of Domina.


Some OOC notes:
➸ Prior to the activation of the Colorblocks, the only books which will be filled out in the Study will be "Artifacts" and "Visitors".
➸ After Domina has been unlocked and some characters have explored the town, "People" and "Locations" will be filled out in the Study as well.
➸ To see who your character is initially rooming with, check the Home page. These rooming assignments are not permanent or mandatory by any means, and characters can change them whenever. Officially letting me know will be present and explained in the next mod post coming in a week's time, but for now we can play it relaxed and loose. Just don't burn down the tree in the meantime.

Even if there is nothing of intrigue at the tree itself, the view from such a vantage point could possibly tell us more about this place, or at least so I would surmise.

Yeah, I know... there's just a lot to deal with down here too. All these weird 'human' guys...

[A talking cat she can understand, because she understands cats. But humans? What the hay are they?]

Oh? You have never met a human before?

[elementofloyalty]

[Rainbow shakes her head, looking faintly dismissive of a foolish question.] There AREN'T any humans in Equestia. I'd never heard of them before now. You're saying you know of 'em?

Only on the faintest of levels, enough to recognize the species. While I have met similar beings that were the main populace of my home, they were not quite the same.

Are talking cats normal where you come from? No offense, but in Equestria... not so much. [Still trying to figure out what his world is like, in her... very Rainbow Dash-ish fashion.] And what are the beings that are LIKE them?

[chattychat]

In some ways, yes, but my brother and I kept mostly to ourselves in the past. I suppose we were not particularly recognized.

[And then bad things happened, but we won’t talk about that.]

Mmm… They were lacking considerable color, save monochrome shades of black and white. Quite prone to stress and corruption if pushed to that edge.

Wait, so they were like the zebra version of humans in body and the changeling version in spirit, I guess?

That's super weird.

I am unfamiliar with the phrasing, but they were quite normal sights to my eyes. Certainly there were more peculiar occurrences to be had.

Well, they didn't look like these guys here the way you described it. [And since there guys here are what Rainbow knows of humans, they must be what humans are like.] Sounds like wherever you came from is pretty wild.

I suppose, to a foreign individual, it must be. However, is that not how it is for every place that is not our home? Individuals and customs that we are not familiar with are all quite alien at first glance!

Huh. Guess that's a good point. We all were pretty weirded out by Zecora before we got to know her and she's a LOT closer to ponykind than humans are. [Well, physically anyway. None of the humans here routinely rhyme, for example.]

Indeed. I am sure as we communicate and share space with one another, we will come to find less and less things odd when it comes to our differences.

Well... I'm friends with zebras, griffons, and baby dragons. Why not humans and cats? [She shrugs broadly. It isn't the most enthusiastic endorsement of their circumstances, but hey -- she'll roll with it!]

Truly the most optimistic view to carry in one’s mind, and one which I myself shall place my hopes in! Besides, I believe it shall not be as difficult an endeavor as you might think. In my experience, there are few creatures that bestow a human’s affection than those of the feline and equine families.

….Generally speaking.

Uh... what does that mean? [Because that's a pretty weird thing to say. Especially since the humans here all seemed pretty weirded out by a talking pony.] Should I be worried?

[chattychat]

I would not say so, although individuals are always unpredictable. I simply believe, if my memory of humans is correct, that we are species which they are fond of.

But they all seem really weirded out by me. [Ponies know nothing of humans, so obviously the humans are weirded out by her because they've never met a pony before.]

Hmmm… Perhaps there is something that is lost to my recollection.

[Wait… Wait. His tail flicks in sudden realization.]

Ah! Our vocal ability must be bewildering them.

Okay, I get that from a talking cat, but what's so weird about a talking pony?

[She 100% does not see the irony. Cats are pets, right? They're normally just animals. Not like ponies.]

Perhaps to them, a talking cat and a talking pony are both degrees of unfamiliar.

[Rainbow blinks, slowly. She really doesn't get it, but she doesn't want to admit that out of pride.]

Well, heh, I guess humans must be pretty weird themselves to have that problem, right?

Indeed, but such things cannot be helped. So long as they are friendly, then I imagine there shall be little problems between us all!
